OK, so he did it once, because I didn’t clean his litter box on time and I cleaned really well with all the suggestions given here. Now he pees on the floor behind it and the wall all the time. I have just a box, no cover and at this point just want a good box that will protect the wall and maybe one of those "self clean" automatic tray models if anyone has tried them and can recommend one. I am willing to pay for it at this point if they work. I don’t like to clean the box, (who does) but I do, but would like something that would minimize it. I live in the US. Thank you so much for your suggestions! :) Inky thanks you too.
Mainly I don’t want to have to clean up pee every day, so if there are other suggestions to the automatic box that would be great too!

They are littermates, live strictly indoors, are very well-adjusted. We use the same litter that we have for the past five years (this has only happened in the last six months). They also have received a clean bill of health from the vet. We have two litterboxes (one that self-cleans, and the other we have to clean which we do twice a day). They use the self-cleaning one the most, when they don’t mess outside of the boxes. We’re pondering getting an additional self-cleaning box in addition to the one we already have. Does this sound like it would take care of the problem? Their boxes are in a quiet extra bedroom in the house where they are not disturbed, so noise/distractions do not seem to be an issue there. Territorial, maybe?
They are two females – spayed at six months

My cat is almost 11 years old, and is definitely litter trained. The vet says she’s as healthy as a kitten and there are no problems. A while back, I had bought a littermaid self-cleaning litter box, and I had that for 2 years until it broke. She used it just fine, although she would run and hit it everytime it started up. After my littermaid broke, I used a regular box for about 2 years. I just bought a new littermaid, and she refuses to use it! I put her regular litter box right beside it for a while to get her used to the change, but she STILL insists on peeing and pooping on our rugs all throughout the house! How do I get her to stop?

I’ve already tried picking her up and putting her in her box when I find her squatting.

I’ve tried putting her face near the poo and telling her "No".

Funny Cat Video – New Kitty Litter Box

Buddy can’t figure out how to get out of the new kitty litter box. So, Bogo, our new kitten, is trying to teach him a little something about kitty litter boxes with swinging doors!

1. Are you an owner, or do you have knowledge from an
owner? (please no guessing or conjectures)

2. The litter area looks kind of small, will my Main Coon fit?

3. How often do you have to buy chemical refills?

4. How often do you have to buy new pellets?

5. Have you ever had to hand wash the unit because it
didn’t auto-clean properly?

6. Is it worth the price?

Thanks!

I bought a litter maid self cleaning litter box on line, a few months ago, and it recently quit working. I was in Pet Smart one day last week, and after telling him what happened, I asked a salesman for his suggestions. He told me that I could bring it back to the store, even though I didn’t even buy it there, and I could get store credit for my old one, toward the purchase of a new one. I was amazed that any company would do something so wonderful. But, today I brought my old one to the store, and all I needed was a piece of paper that I printed off the internet, which showed what I paid for the old one. They gave me credit for the entire price I paid for the old one, and the new one (a better model) only cost me ten dollars and some change. How many other companies treat their customers that way? I bet they even treat their employees that well, too! I will never buy my cat supplies anywhere else, again.
This is politics because it is about how most companies and large corporations tend to put the bottom line ahead of everything, including their customers and the people who work for them. Politics is anything that concerns the quality of life for all, whether it be moral issues, or jobs, or the economy, or poverty or any number of any issues that concern people. It is been highly unusual, in my experience to deal with a company that really cares about people, knows that you get back tenfold what you give. Too many companies are downsizing these days, or cutting benefits and claiming that the little people have to make these sacrifices so that the company can remain competative, and the little people can keep their jobs.

I just want to tell the world that I found out today, that not all companies are greedy and selfish an corrupt. And if this is not part politics, I don’t know what is.
