FAIL: LitterMaid 980 Multi-Cat Self-Cleaning Litter Box

I really love my littermaids. I’ve now gone through 4 of them. Even though they do seem to wear out, or break, they worked well for me in the past. I bought these, thinking they were similar to my older versions. It’s not. And seems to have some serious issue. www.walmart.com Reference: MVI_1042.MOV

Ok I have had many litter boxes, and when my cat was a kitten she had a huge litter box ( large cardboard box with clay litter, becuz she was chewing on the plastic one) Then i moved in with my Boyfriend living with his family, they had 7 cats and one litter box, I ended up buying a litter box just for her to use, as she has grown she has started throwing her litter on the floor, I will clean her box once a day maybe let it go every other day depending. But after i put new litter in her litterbox she runs over to it and moves it around, when i leave her alone and come back over half the litter is on the floor…. the box is surrounded by litter ( if i clean it up it seems like she puts more out) its getting so bad my cat will put so much out of the litterbox she will not go to bathroom…. When we moved she went from clay to tidycats multi cat. None of the cats did that,i buy the same litter as we had and everything, she is very sweet and small i just feel bad for her. I sleep all odd hours so i never can clean the litter, and seeing at the old house litter got changed maybe once every four days ( besides her box). I am about to get tub and try that. Is this her way of telling me she needs another cat? Why would she change that habit? Has anyone had this trouble before…. Almost 1/4 of the room has litter on the floor. She has also been pulling stuff in the litter box ( not going to the bathroom on it just like i found a glass doll in there today, a sock … pillows, books…. she has the whole room to her self besides when i go in there and play with her and clean…. i just find it annoying. please help…. I am sick of looking at pile of litter ( which i personally hate the brand but i was fearful of buying clay that she would not use it, I am fine with litterboxes but not animal poo on my floor ,,,, i know i am werid) But please help

How to keep my dog out of the litter box?

I have a Giant Schnauzer- so he’s tall and a litter box with a top opening won’t work. Neither will putting the litterbox on a counter or in the bath tub. My Giant can open doors as well 🙂 and I don’t wanna lock my kittens up when I have to go somewhere. Oh- he can jump over baby gates and my kittens can’t jump over anything like that yet. This is my predicament.

I saw the clean step dome litter box today an was thinking it looked like a good solution but I’m not sure. I cannot buy a self cleaning litter box yet- so I wanted to see if there were any other suggestions for me.

I want to buy a litter box that will be hard for my dog to get into.

Thanks! Please don’t suggest me crating my dog, because that’s not a solution.
Yeah- it is MUCH easier to train a 12 week old puppy than a 5 year old dog who waits to go in the litter when we are gone.

I hope you can help me.
I have 2 indoor cats, brother and sister, who get along great. They are 3 years old and I’ve had them since they were kittens.
But in the past months (even over a year) I’ve had a horrible problem with the female pooping outside the litter box. It started with her pooping on an area rug. It became so consistent, that I finally just removed the rug. That worked for awhile, but then she started pooping on the stairs leading to my basement.
I’ve tried everything. Multiple boxes on multiple levels of the house. Different litters and differents kinds of litterboxes. Cleaning out the entire box twice a day. Putting foil and citrus-scented cotton balls on the area for aversion. Sometimes it works for a little while until the newness wears off, but then it’s right back to the same old thing. I even put the litterbox ON the stairs, but then she would poop on a different step. (never urine, though)

I suspect that she has an aversion to the smell of his male urine. That’s the only thing I can think of!
I took the female to my mother’s house and she’s been there a week and has used the cat litter every time, no problems. I’m getting the whole house carpet cleaned while she’s gone.
These 2 kitties have been together their whole lives and they love each other dearly. They are so lonely without each other. I don’t want to separate them or find another home for one. What can I do?
Do you have any ideas for how I can somehow keep their litterboxes separated without isolating them from each other? Or is there something that might keep his urine from smelling? (they’ve both been spayed/neutered). Is there anything else I’ve overlooked?

I’ve considered one of those self-cleaning litterboxes. But considering I can’t get her to use it AT ALL, I don’t think I could teach her to use some new contraption. The expense would be worth it if it works, though.

Thank you for any help you can send my way!

I need lots of advice on my cat litter box?

Ok, I have a male adn female cat, and boy do they make a huge mess in the litter box, and i’ve treid all of them, the ones with lids, the self cleaning and idk what to do. I live in an apartment and work 50 hours a week, and clean up their litter box atleast 2-3 times a day and it stinks, they poop and pee sooooooo much!! I need some advice . Since i have a small apartment, i want to clean out the little room where they have taken over, bc we want to have a baby soon. So i need to find a small litter box for our bathroom. Under the sink is to small and next to the toilet is only 11 inches wide, other than that the bathroom is tiny tiny. Any advice on how to put on ein your bathroom??? does anyone have a small batheroom w/ just a sink, toilet and bathtub/shower, and have a litter box, if so what kind, size and i really want one with a lid so noone has to look at it while going to the bathroom. Thanks
First off i clean their box everday its not disgusting, im just looking for something less work for cleaning it and less of a mess, im not giving my cats up. THanks everyone that had a good idea, i think im going to put it across frmo the toilet with a huge litterbox and lid and door on it for them and try that out.

automatic cat litter boxes?

what do you guys think of the "Beige Litter Robot Self Cleaning Litter Box Litterbox"? I read review that this is very good. The only complaint that they had was to some people it was a little loud. Any body have ones that work good for them?
