I decided that I wanted to take a look at the new style of automatic litter boxes out there, and after a little bit of research, I decided to do a review on the Litter-Robot II from Automated Pet Care Products Inc. This is not your old automatic litter box, this is a modern piece of cutting edge cat poop dispensing technological piece of equipment; or at least that was my initial thought when I first saw it online. But we will all see for ourselves as both me and my cats put it through its paces and determine just how cool this thing really is.
I have 5 cats and so it takes a lot of work to keep their litter boxes clean and so i was thinking of getting some self-cleaning liitter boxes.
If you have a self-cleaning liitter box do you like it? Was it worth getting? What one do you have?
Also with 5 cats would i need to buy 5 of them?
Thanks!!!!
cheetah – Thanks for the link to the toliet training thing, did it work for all of your friends that tried it? Did they have multiple cats that they trained at once?
April – thanks i just watched a video about that scoop and it looks like it does work a lot better.
I just purchased a Scoop Free Self Cleaning Litter Box (http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B000ELUQQS/002-7158175-9600832). I’m looking for ways to make the refill cartridges last and what’s the best refill litter I can buy to minimize odor. Please share your tips with me!!
This is my first review of this product. I have been using it for 4 days when this was filmed. So far it seems to be working fairly well, but as I mention in this video, I do have some concerns about how well it will hold up to everyday use. All of my cats have used this litter box. I currently have 3 litter boxes set up side by side to give them the choice of which one to use. There is this one, there is a Litter-Robot II automatic cat box, and there is the old fashioned normal cat box. My dad lives at home with my two cats, and our current setup is a traditional litter box with with a hood. We use a trash bag as a liner and the fresh step crystals.
My worry is that while I’m away at school, he doesn’t change the litter often enough, he takes the 30 days to heart. I’ve read that you need more than one litter box if you have more than one cat, but I can say we’ve never had any problems.
My question to you is, are there any self cleaning litter boxes on the market that can handle two cats? I could see getting one and keeping the current box, but I would like for them to be kept in the same room. I have been looking at the new “Scoop Free” by Fresh Step (https://www.scoopfree.com/) but the user reviews I read claim that the waxy containers don’t last as long as they should, and replacements are very expensive ().
Other products I’ve seen, such as the Litter Mate, reportedly break down and gum up, the timer doesn’t wait long enough for the clumping to take place.
We’re getting really sick of cleaning kitty’s mess on a daily basis. It bothers us also that as he jumps out of his litter, he spreads the mess all over the house. I hear that with the Scoop Free Self-Cleaning Litter Box you only have to clean the mess every 15 days or so. If this is true, I would think that buying the product is worth it. I know that it’s pricey, but we really don’t mind if it really WORKS. Please, only to those of you who have experience with automatic litter boxes, would you say that they are worth it? And if so, what are some pros and cons of them?
