I have been wanting a cat for a while now, but lately I have been doing a bit of research. I found that Siberian cat’s don’t have or have a much lower level of the allergy inducing protein in their dander. I told my allergic mom that, but she doesn’t seem to care. She says the if we were to get another pet (we have a Wheaton Terrier) we would get a dog because:
She grew up with a dog,
We have a large home and yard,
and dogs are more friendly.
She also doesn’t like:
The Litter Box smell,
The way cats jump on the counter,
The fur,
The “unfriendly-ness”
And she’s allergic.
I explained that she might not have a reaction to Siberian cats, and with lots of affection cats can be very friendly too. I have also been doing research and found that there are self cleaning litter boxes (not all of them work so well) and you can toilet train a cat! The counter tops there’s not so much you can do about that, but you can squirt them with a mist when they do. I would love grooming my cat (I love giving my dog bath’s and grooming her) and I would help, or at least try, to help vacuum and clean up after the cat. I would also keep my cat indoors unless she had a harness and leash. If it turned out she was allergic to Siberians, I would be fine. I just want her to TRY!!!! >=( Another thing she says: “You’re just interested in cats because you’re BORED! NOOOOOO WAY! I’ve wanted a cat my whole life. Especially since my BFF just got a cat. Her cat showed me just how fun they can be…. And how much work. The reason she thinks I’m bored is because I’ve been lounging around all summer and have just recently been reading cat books and researching on-line. She makes me soooo frustrated, please help!!!

P.S. I haven’t told her abound my “researching,” I want to think up a good speech.
I was also planning on adopting a Siberian. I’ve found a couple of adoption websites that lead to adoption centers across the US, I’ve found a couple of Siberians in need of a home (not that I’m expecting to adopt a cat so soon).

How do I train my cat to use the toilet?

Ive heard of people teaching their cat to use the toilet instead of the litter box. I have a self-cleaning box but its expensive to get the equipment for it, and the litter and it stinks either way. I think my cat is smart enough to to be trained. I taught him to sit with ease. If I could teach him to use the toilet that would help me out a whole lot. Has anyone ever done this before?

I have one of those litter boxes that cleans its self so his litter box is cleaned after he uses it. He has food in his bowl but only eats if we are around. I have tried several brands of food. He also wont drink water out of his bowl he likes water out of the toilet.

I need lots of advice on my cat litter box?

Ok, I have a male adn female cat, and boy do they make a huge mess in the litter box, and i’ve treid all of them, the ones with lids, the self cleaning and idk what to do. I live in an apartment and work 50 hours a week, and clean up their litter box atleast 2-3 times a day and it stinks, they poop and pee sooooooo much!! I need some advice . Since i have a small apartment, i want to clean out the little room where they have taken over, bc we want to have a baby soon. So i need to find a small litter box for our bathroom. Under the sink is to small and next to the toilet is only 11 inches wide, other than that the bathroom is tiny tiny. Any advice on how to put on ein your bathroom??? does anyone have a small batheroom w/ just a sink, toilet and bathtub/shower, and have a litter box, if so what kind, size and i really want one with a lid so noone has to look at it while going to the bathroom. Thanks
First off i clean their box everday its not disgusting, im just looking for something less work for cleaning it and less of a mess, im not giving my cats up. THanks everyone that had a good idea, i think im going to put it across frmo the toilet with a huge litterbox and lid and door on it for them and try that out.

Self cleaning litter boxes?

I have two cats, and I never want to touch litter again! I know the cat genie needs to be hooked up into a toilet or water system thing, but they stay in my room and I don’t have a water hook-up. Are there any litter boxes that just plug into the wall?

And has anyone tried the LitterMaid LME9000 Elite Mega Advanced Automatic Self-Cleaning Litter Box?

Well this isn’t helping me much…anyone have any positive comments about automatic litter trays?

Looking for opinions on self-cleaning litter boxes?

My wife has tried to train the cats to use the toilet instead of a litter box and they are about ready to revolt and throw us out of the house.

What kind of luck have any of you had with self cleaning litter boxes? I have heard bad things about the Littermaid but the ‘Cat Genie’ and ‘Litter Robot’ look promising.

What is a good self cleaning litter box?

Okay, I have three cats and I live in a very poorly circulated house. I have to keep their litter box in the bathroom, which stinks my whole room up (its one of those attached bathrooms) and I’m really getting sick of this. I’ve tried putting those air filters by the litter box and it doesn’t really work.

I want to know if self cleaning litter boxes help with the smell any, and if so which one is the best. I never thought of getting one before because i didn’t want to pay over a hundred dollars for a motorized toilet, but I just don’t care anymore. I really, really want to be able to feel at home in my house and not be so embarrassed when guests come over.
